Kate Middleton's Brother James Shared a Message of Support in the Wake of Her Cancer Announcement
Earlier today, Kensington Palace shared the news that the Princess of Wales, is being treated for cancer. The announcement comes after weeks of intense online speculation regarding Kate’s welfare following an abdominal surgery in January. Shortly after the news was revealed, messages of support began flooding out, and not least among them was a sweet note from Kate's younger brother James Middleton.
Shared to his Instagram, the post includes a vintage photo of Kate and himself as children, presumably on a hike, along with the caption, "Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too."
While the Palace has not disclosed what kind of cancer Kate has—similar to the way that her father-in-law, King Charles, has also chosen not to share the specific nature of his own cancer diagnosis—they did confirm that the princess is receiving preventative chemotherapy.
The king offered his own message in the wake of Kate's announcement, with a Buckingham Palace spokesperson saying that Charles is "so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did." They added, that he and Queen Camilla "will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family throughout this difficult time."
In a video released by Kensington Palace, Kate expressed her thanks for those who have wished her well in recent weeks, saying, "I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery. It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful."
