The pair travelled to Birmingham by train, with a video of their rail travel being posted to their Instagram account.
During the visit, the mother of three, who has long been a fan of high street labels, wore a burgundy Long Sleeve Woven Pleated Midi Trench Dress from Karen Millen, which is currently on sale for £183.20, down from £229.
While the burgundy and forest hues are currently sold out, it’s still available in black and camel.
“Part dress, part trench coat, this beautifully cut design shows off neat notched lapels, a waist tie and crisp pleats lining the skirt. Cinch it in for a nipped-in silhouette that’s ready for colder climes,” a description on the site reads.

Kate paired the dress with Gianvito Rossi 'Gianvito 105' Pumps in the matching Royale Burgundy Suede, which retail for £650 and are currently available in several different shades on Net-A-Porter.
Jewellery-wise, the 41-year-old opted for Sézane’s 'Dina' Earrings in Ocean Blue, which retail for £100 and are made from gold-plated recycled brass.
Kate debuted these earrings on Christmas Day 2022, when she wore them with a bespoke Philip Treacy hat, custom Alexander McQueen coat dress, and a £35 Mango dress as her base layer.
