Kate Spade is selling a ‘beautiful’ $360 tote bag for just $78
Let's be honest, choosing a new tote bag is tough. You need it to 1) be cute, 2) hold everything you need and 3) be cute (yes, we put that there twice). After all, it's going to literally be by your side through thick and thin. When we're in the market for a new tote, we head straight to the mecca — Kate Spade. While its Outlet always comes through with head-spinning deals, there's one in particular that's calling our name. Classic and stylish, the Jana Tote may well become your new best friend. Also friendly? Right now it's marked down nearly 80%.
Its long handles and verticality make this sleeker and smoother than other totes.
Why is this a good deal? 💰
To state the obvious, this is a fancy bag that's worthy of a fancy price tag on major sale. While it was already marked down from $359 to $104, the extra 25% off (with the code EARLYBIRD) brings it down to just $78. Um, that's nearly $300 in savings. The bag is also marked down in three other colors: black, red and tan. Even though those options aren't as deeply discounted as the white, they're still a serious steal at just $99.
FYI: In case you're eyeing something else, KS will throw in a free cosmetics pouch if you spend over $150. Seriously, when was the last time you saw a designer deal this good?
Why do I need this? 🤔
A good tote bag can make or break, well, your life — or at least be a crucial element in an ensemble — and the Jana is best in its class. Elegant and classic, it can be paired with everything from classic jeans and a white tee to a polished office look or date night 'fit. Hell, you can even match it up with the marshmallowiest winter puffer coat and it'd still be cute and classic.
The bag itself is made with saffiano leather and a two-way jacquard lining. Inside, there's a sneaky slip pocket with a zipper and two others to keep things organized. There's also a zipper at the top so nothing slips out — which is great when it's stuffed to the brim with your wallet, water bottle, keys, gum, one zillion and one crumpled receipts, etc., etc.
For what it's worth, the Kate Spade Outlet is stocked with deals on even more bags, like this convenient and sporty crossbody for $100 (down from $399) and this shoulder bag that also turns into a wristlet for $75 (down from $189), all marked down big-time with the code EARLYBIRD.
What reviewers say 💬
With an overall rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars, no wonder the Jana has been a huge hit with Kate Spade fans. They especially love how "elegant" it looks, call it the "perfect" size and note that it makes a great gift (you do know that holiday shopping is upon us, yes?).
Pros 👍
"I bought this for my mom for Christmas and it hasn't left her side," shared one happy shopper. "She loves the sleek style and it has just enough space to carry the extra things that don't typically fit in her purse. The quality is great, and I'm sure she'll be using it for many, many years."
"This tote is just the right size, not too big and not too small," declared a second fashionista. "I love that it has a zipper so things won't fall out if tipped over. I also like how it fits under my arm, since it isn't as wide as a bigger tote."
"Great go-to purse," echoed this fan. "The color is perfect for anything I wear, and it's not so deep that things get lost in the bottom."
"I usually carry a smaller handbag but needed something larger for work to bring my water bottle, snacks, and other necessities," explained this raving reviewer. "This purse holds everything. I also love when I go shopping and I buy something small, I don't need to get a bag." They added: "I received half a dozen compliments in the first week."
Cons 👎
While shoppers are major fans of the tote, a few have suggestions for design improvements.
"Beautiful tote. The strap drop length is perfect," said this shopper. "I do wish that there was an outside pocket for a phone."
"The straps are very firm, so when I go to open the bag the straps don't fall to the side," began one critique, "which makes it nearly impossible to get into this bag if you are sitting down and trying to get something out of it one-handed. I wish they would put the buckles on this one like on several other bags so that they fall to the side when the bag is sitting down." However, the same reviewer did add that it's "just a personal preference on my part, does not take away from the beauty or function of this bag, which is great!"
White not your thing? For just a few extra bucks you can scoop up one in black, red or tan.
