As you can probably imagine, I get a lot of emails — like a lot. My inbox is currently at a level that would make any Type A person freak out (I know, I know!), but given the sheer amount of emails I get in a single day, I simply can’t keep up — nor will I ever get my inbox to zero. But, there was one subject line that got my attention yesterday, because it included two of my favorites: Katie Holmes and ballet flats. And yes, you can best bet I clicked the second I saw it because, well, Katie Holmes in flats!

The actress has an ever-changing style, which makes her one of the most exciting celebs to follow, simply because you never know what you’re going to get. Most recently, she looked like she was in a Hallmark movie (as best described by my co-worker) during a recent New York City. Her outfit was ethereal, cute, and seasonally appropriate; it consisted of a flowy pink midi dress with floral detailing on the hem and neckline and a light-wash denim jacket (a must-have layering essential this time of year). She also carried the most beautiful bouquet, which I now want in my house, sported the sweetest fringe that nearly convinced me to get bangs, and wore the suede Birdies ballet flats I have to make mine, stat.

Holmes is no newbie to the flats game. In fact, she’s one celeb who’s been wearing the low-to-the-ground shoe nonstop, even before they really made their big return — she’s a practical girly, y’all, and flats are just that: practical. But the most recent pair she wore from Birdies deserve extra mention: They’re cute and simple, but they’re also designed with an extra cushy insole that basically makes them feel like slippers.

The Birdies flats actually just launched, but in their short time on the market, they’ve already earned a spot in Holmes’ lineup, which is headline making on its own, given her affinity for super stylish flats. What’s more, sizes are selling out fast, which means the style is clearly resonating with regular folks like you and me, too. But TBH, that’s really no surprise. Birdies, a celeb-worn brand that also counts Meghan Markle as a fan, is known for its über comfy shoes that basically feel like slippers, even though they look nothing like cozy house shoes.

These flats look nothing like slippers; they’re ultra simple and sleek, with an elegant square-toe, plus a glove-like fit that looks so chic on. There’s also a teeny, tiny heel that adds some height, but the cherry on top of it all is the insole — a soft-bounce quilted interior with arch support that’s so comfy, the brand says you’ll feel like you’re walking on clouds. Based on Holmes’ smile while wearing them, it’s safe to say she probably is, in fact, walking on clouds.

The shoe comes in four colors, including the Holmes-worn beige suede, a chocolate-y leather, a poppy gold, and a brown embossed, plus in sizes 5 to 12, including half sizes. At $150 a pop, they’re on the pricier end, but given the timeless design and the out-of-this-world comfort, it’s probably the best $150 you’ll spend today. I’m waiting for my pair to arrive — and yes, I’ll be wearing them exactly like Holmes did, bouquet and all.
