Katy Perry looks like an alien on the beach in iridescent rubber rings look

When Katy Perry first announced her music comeback with an Instagram post that saw the singer posing in a teeny tiny white crochet bikini and muscular metal leg coverings, it's safe to say we were a little confused. The futuristic, sci-fi chic look wasn't what we had anticipated for Katy's next era, but her latest ensemble has fully reinforced the look.

Taking again to social media, Katy shared yet more promotional material for her 'Woman's World' EP, this time wearing nothing but glowing iridescent rubber rings as a bikini. One ring wrapped around her chest with another positioned across her hips. A third was worn around her neck like a choker necklace, with a further two smaller rings positioned at each elbow.

Katy ditched all accessories in the unusual attire, adding nude crystal-embellished mesh heeled ankle boots to her feet. Her long dark hair was worn loose down her back.

We're hardly Brian Cox, but we imagine this is what an alien would wear to the beach. It's giving summer holidays on Mars, or maybe Venus. The single is called 'Woman's World' after all.

IRL, Katy's holiday wardrobe is much more wearable (thankfully). She's currently on holiday in St. Tropez with her fiancé Orlando Bloom and gave fans a look at how she's spending her downtime and what she's wearing while off duty.

As well as stunning in a black bikini (that we strongly suspect is from celeb-fave swimwear brand, Hunza G), she also rocked a Bottega Veneta backless orange crochet beach dress that featured lace-up sides. Admittedly, shopping for anything from the Italian luxury fashion house is equally as unlikely as finding an iridescent rubber ring bikini with our current budgets, but we've found some affordable alternatives if you want to take inspo from Katy's vibrant crochet design.

And in the meantime, we'll be playing 'E.T.' on repeat for some throwback Katy goodness inspired by her futuristic fashion.
