Katy Perry and Rebecca Black's animal print micro minis are *so* coordinated
Of all Katy Perry's music videos, it's an undeniable universal truth that the video for her 2011 single ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)’ is the greatest. Don't even try to convince us otherwise. From Katy's quirky ensemble to Rebecca Black's cameo, we could happily watch it on repeat. Even all these years later.
Well, fans in attendance at Rebecca Black's show in Los Angeles over the weekend were treated to an IRL rendition as Katy made a surprise appearance, joining Rebecca on stage to duet the pop banger. But music aside, because we're really here to talk about the duo's unintentional (at least, we're pretty sure it was accidental) twinning moment.
Both artists clearly got the dress code memo, which seemed to specify two things: animal print – one of this spring summer's biggest fashion trends – and teeny tiny hemlines. While Katy opted for a zebra print micro skirt for her stage ensemble, Rebecca kept it classic in a leopard print mini dress.
Scroll to see for yourself:
Changing out of her yellow lace patchwork corset top, tan cargo trousers and Charlotte Simone faux fur-trimmed coat, Katy slipped into a white cropped tank top knotted at the back that she paired with a zebra print mini skirt. The wrap design featured a giant oversized diamanté buckle positioned at one hip, transforming the garment from a barely-there mini skirt into an XL (but still tiny for its intended purpose) belt. Katy wore a silver sequin bra top underneath, at one point pulling down the neckline of her top to reveal the glittery undergarment to the crowd. White mule heeled sandals completed the 'fit.
Rebecca, meanwhile, donned an equally short leopard print mini dress with a flared skirt. She wore black heeled knee-high boots, switching these for cream fluffy over-the-knee boots and a matching her white faux fur coat after she'd finished her performance.
Katy and Rebecca's reunion was all in aid of announcing that Rebecca will be joining Katy's ‘The Lifetimes Tour’ as a special guest, with Katy getting down on one knee on stage to propose the idea to her. From the Y2K outfits to the throwback song to Rebecca Black reuniting with Katy Perry, we're not convinced we haven't just woken up in 2011...
