Keke Palmer Joined the Red Hair Trend & Gave Us the Perfect Inspo — See Photos

Keke Palmer is getting an early start on one of the hottest hair trends of 2025. The actor stepped out in one of the most coveted colors, copper red, but put her own take on it.

Palmer slowly but surely lightened her hair to the orange color it is now, but she first debuted dark auburn red hair on January 6, 2024. In an Instagram post, she styled it in an updo. The next day, reminding fans to get their tickets to her new film with SZA, One of Them Days, she shared a few photos, and this time, her hair was similarly a dark auburn color with more orange undertones.

Just another day later, Palmer attended a screening of the movie in Atlanta. She wore a red dress that made her new bright orange hair, tied in a sleek bun with a face framing layer falling out, pop and she’s been rocking it ever since.

For the Today Show on Jan. 15, she let her hair down in loose voluminous curls and a side part to juxtapose the light mint green fur-trimmed jacket she wore. On Good Morning America, she matched her hair to her dress, a silk topaz midi with a corset belt. Keeping the color coordination going, she paired the look with burgundy red heels and had red chrome nails.

Later that night, she stepped out in two bold looks, proving the hair color can be just as hot as it is cute. First, she wore a studded leather skirt and matching halter top under a long black coat. Her hair was worn similarly but with tighter curls this time. Later, she slipped into a Schiaparelli black velvet midi dress with a statement belt around the neckline and an eye-shaped ring. She layered a black wool coat with balloon sleeves over it, letting her bright copper curls cascade down the back.

The next day, Palmer was on the go again. She started off her morning with a plaid jacket and matching skirt for a look that totally screamed Hilary Banks. She put a black leather newsboy hat over her new hair but later let her hair loose for Late Night with Seth Meyers.

We're not sure how much longer Palmer will be wearing this hair color as she's one to keep things fresh, but the last couple weeks have been a masterclass in opting for a new trend. Taking it step by step (or in this case, shade by shade) is the perfect way to ease into a new look, so this will be added to our inspo folders to take to the salon this year.
