Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes Heat Up the VMAs Red Carpet with Some Steamy PDA Moments
Kelsea Ballerini celebrated her 30th birthday this week with a very special appearance at the VMAs. She took the stage for a show-stopping performance, but first, she shut down the red carpet with her boyfriend, actor Chase Stokes.
Kelsea wore a stunning cut-out red gown with a super-low back that shows off her new hummingbird tattoo. She shared photos of her look on Instagram and wrote, "about to perform on the freaking @vmas on my freaking 30th birthday pinch me."
The Outer Banks star wore a matching red jacket paired with a black button-down shirt and white pants.
The coordinating couple shared some steamy moments on the red carpet.
During the awards show, Kelsea took the stage to sing her powerful ballad, "Penthouse." The performance featured an incredible mid-song wardrobe change. She began singing in an ethereal white gown, but after smoke filled the stage, she emerged in a short strapless black minidress.
Her stylist, Molly Dickson, shared on Instagram that the wardrobe change was "the most challenging job I've ever had as a stylist and when I got the creative I had a mild panic attack." She continued, "It will forever be one of my most proud and cherished moments in my career."
Kelsea later shared another accomplishment: She graces the cover of Time magazine's Time 100 Next issue with an interview by Shania Twain. Kelsea wrote, "for a girl that loves her words, this has me pretty speechless. what an incredible honor @time." Chase wrote in the comments, "Turns 30, immediately drops a Time cover."
