Canadian meteorologist Kelsey McEwen fires back at criticism of on-air outfit

Kelsey McEwen isn't giving haters a second thought.

On Sunday, the Canadian meteorologist for CTV's "Your Morning" shared a powerful message with her Instagram followers in response to a negative comment she received from a viewer about her on-air outfit.

In the Instagram Reel, McEwen posed in a white, single-sleeve shirt and black trousers, behind on-screen text showcasing two remarks on her appearance.

"Kelsey looks like a Greek goddess in that white outfit," one fan wrote, while another viewer had very different feedback for McEwen.

"Who lets you go on TV dressed like that? You're not clubbing. You're a sad excuse for a weather girl," they commented, to which McEwen replied:

"They'll love you, they'll hate you. So ignore them all and be your own number one fan," the text overlay on the screen read.

The TV personality doubled down in her caption, and explained that because it's impossible to please everybody, she chooses not to try.

"Some like their tea strong. Some want it with sugar. Some like fruit flavours. Some don’t like it at all," she penned. "You’ll never be able to be everyone’s cup of tea. It would be exhausting trying to be. So instead, take that energy, and figure out what you like, and do that. Do you."

She then thanked those who were "triggered" by the exposure of her bare shoulder.

"Honestly, thank you to those so triggered by the sight of a woman’s bare shoulder and arm. It reminds me of how much more work there is to do," McEwen concluded.

In the comments, fans rallied behind McEwen and praised her for defending herself.

"People who post these types of messages must be living very sad lives. You are beautiful and a joy to watch every morning," an Instagram user wrote.

"I'm sensing some pretty obvious misogyny from whoever left that comment because your outfit is perfectly appropriate for your job, and stunning. Good for you for speaking out!" a commenter chimed in.

"What is wrong with people? If you can’t say something nice then don’t say anything at all. I think you look fabulous!" a fan commented.

One person joked: "I think you should wear crop tops to really give them a heart attack. You’re gorgeous."

In February, McEwen fired back at a Twitter user for shaming another one of her on-air outfits.

"Welcome back @KelseyMcEwen #WeatherGirl from @YourMorning," the comment reads. "How come none of your cohorts haven't told you #PantyLines #CamelToe #BubbleButt #RedIsNotYourFriend."

McEwen replied to the tweet, letting the commenter know that she feels "zero shame" about her appearance.

"Listen, I own my body, camel toe and bubble butt included," she penned. Your words bring me zero shame. Your feelings about my body and outfit are a you problem, not a me problem. And red? Red is [fire]. The only thing that isn’t my friend here, is you."
