King Charles Is Seen in Public for the First Time Since His Cancer Diagnosis
King Charles went to London yesterday following the news of his cancer diagnosis to begin his treatment as an outpatient. Today, after briefly seeing his son, Prince Harry, King Charles has gone back to Sandringham.
Leaving London, Charles and Queen Camilla were pictured driving the short distance from Clarence House to Buckingham Palace, where a helicopter was waiting to take them to Sandringham, in Norfolk.
In their short car ride, both Charles and Camilla were smiling and waving to those who had gathered on the Mall outside Buckingham Palace.

Soon after, the royal standard was lowered above the Palace, indicating that the King was no longer in residence.
In a statement yesterday, Buckingham Palace said, "The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible. His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."
The Palace, however, will not be disclosing what type of cancer Charles has, though they did specify it was not prostate cancer. In an interview on the BBC this morning, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak shared that the King's cancer was "caught early," but provided no other details.
