King Charles Smiles as He Is Discharged from the Hospital
This afternoon, King Charles left the hospital where he had surgery on Friday (January 26), and smiled and waved to onlookers as he departed with Queen Camilla by his side.
"The King was this afternoon discharged from hospital following planned medical treatment and has rescheduled forthcoming public engagements to allow for a period of private recuperation," the Palace said in a statement. "He would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit, and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days."
A reminder that the royal was admitted to the London Clinic on Friday for a scheduled prostate treatment. At the time, the Palace said, "His Majesty would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week and is delighted to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness." Queen Camilla joined him upon his admittance and visited him a few times throughout the weekend.
Earlier today, Kate Middleton was also discharged from the London Clinic, returning to her home at Adelaide Cottage. She was not photographed leaving.
Kensington Palace said the following in a statement of the Princess of Wales' discharge: "The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress. The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided. The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world."
Kate will return to public duties sometime after Easter while King Charles is expected to be back to work much sooner, but no timeline has been specified yet.
