King Charles to star in new Amazon Prime Video documentary
Amazon Prime Video is collaborating with the royal family on a new documentary following King Charles.
Filming has already started on the project, which will oversee the monarch’s ongoing philanthropic and environmental endeavours, both in the UK and across the world.
It is also expected to explore similar themes that Charles covered in his 2010 tome Harmony: A New Way of Looking At Our World, which also looks at how we can help preserve nature and elevate green causes.
A source from inside Buckingham Palace told BBC News that the King was "greatly looking forward" to seeing how different mediums can help educate new audiences on the content from his book. "It's astonishing, really, what has been put into practice since publication of the original book, 15 years ago, and how many of those pioneering ideas have been adopted in different ways,” an insider also told The Times.
"This is a chance to 'show, not tell', how they can transform people, placed, and ultimately the planet. I think many will be genuinely amazed at the scale, scope and vision of it all, for which Dumfries House continues to be the 'living laboratory'."
Charles has long been a campaigner for the environment. He has used the Royal Estate to invest in renewable energy projects and has endeavoured to implement sustainable practices in the royal households.

He has also attended and spoken at COP events to warn the world of the damaging effects of climate change.
However, the King’s decision to partner with Amazon Prime Video on the project marks a significant departure from royal protocol.
Previously, the royal family have worked with British production companies and channels when releasing projects about their lives or their work. Famous examples include BBC’s 1969 documentary The Royal Family, which gave an intimate insight of the Windsors over 18 months of filming. The BBC also had exclusive access to the royals for a documentary on Queen Elizabeth II, where they paid tribute to the late monarch as she celebrated her 90th birthday.
The exception to this has been the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who signed a lucrative partnership with Netflix following their departure from royal duties in 2020.
Their docuseries, Harry & Meghan, observed their couple’s relationship as well as their decision to leave the UK for Montecito, California.
The Duchess of Sussex is also planning to star in her own lifestyle series. With Love, Meghan was scheduled to air in January, but the series was postponed until March following the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.
