These kitchen paint colours will be everywhere in 2025 – and there's even one for neutral lovers
Gone are the days of stark white kitchens. Bold, confident and vibrant, the kitchen has become a canvas for creativity and personality – and this year we're seeing more colourful kitchens than ever before. A striking sunshine yellow or dramatic black isn't for everyone, but for 2025, even the neutral lovers will find a shade to suit.
Below, we reveal six kitchen paint colour trends designers predict will be everywhere in 2025. Whether you're renovating or just looking for a refresh, read on for some major kitchen inspiration.
1. Sunshine yellow
Uplifting, energetic and optimistic, yellow is the perfect statement colour. 'Yellow is one of the most visible colours in daylight and has a unique ability to brighten and energise any room,' says Darren Watts, showroom design director at Wren Kitchens. 'Its light-reflecting properties make it particularly effective in small or dimly lit spaces, and its appetite-stimulating qualities are ideal for kitchens.'
Pair yellow cabinetry with timber worktops, complemented by jute placemats and linen napkins. These textures will temper yellow’s vibrancy, creating a harmonious and balanced kitchen environment. For a more contemporary look, opt for white accents to neutralise the intensity of yellow while preserving its brightness.
2. Rich burgundy
Reddish tones bring warmth, richness and depth, making a kitchen feel more inviting and personal. Burgundy – a deep shade of red with purplish undertones – is becoming a prominent colour in contemporary kitchen design, adding character to culinary spaces.
'Burgundy can be used as a bold statement through tiles or kitchen cabinets. The rich hue seamlessly integrates with a variety of design styles, including traditional and rustic,' explains Mike Whitfield, luxury interior expert at Lusso. 'Introducing aged bronze accents into burgundy kitchens is an emerging trend that combines rich, warm tones with sophisticated metallic finishes.'
3. Tranquil blues
Blue evokes a sense of tranquillity and understated elegance. Combined with classic materials such as marble, these tones strike a harmonious balance between modernity and timelessness.
‘A great colour choice is blue – especially brighter shades like sky blue or turquoise – as it has a calming effect that can reduce stress while adding an uplifting and striking aesthetic to your decor,' says Al Bruce, founder of Olive & Barr.
4. Warm browns
If you haven't heard, brown is the new neutral. The definitive 'it' colour for 2025 (thanks to Pantone's Mocha Mousse and Graham & Brown's Elderton) is making a splash in every part of the home, including the kitchen.
'As we move away from light grey and beige kitchens, 2025 will see earthy tones like Mocha Mousse take centre stage in cabinetry, backsplashes, and seating,' says Darren. 'Earth tones are versatile and pair beautifully with a variety of textures and finishes, such as Japandi-style wood grains or sleek, contemporary materials.'
From caramel to taupe, brown cabinetry will create a moody, sultry aesthetic that feels sophisticated yet inviting. 'For those looking to brighten their space, pairing mocha cabinetry with off-white sinks, backsplashes, or worktops strikes the perfect balance of depth and light,' adds Darren.
5. Earthy greens
Rich green hues, varying from sage to olive to deep forest greens, have taken the kitchen design world by storm, providing a natural, earthy feel and grounding the space with a sense of calm.
'Green is still one of the most popular colour choices for kitchens. With a slight tendency towards darker, moodier palettes, this shade is likely to remain prevalent throughout the year,' says Alex Main, director of The Main Company. ' Whilst the darker tones are the most popular, we have noticed a lean towards more uncommon shades recently – from bolder olive tones to more jewel-based teals and emeralds.'
6. Dark, moody tones
Deep tones like midnight blue, charcoal grey and rich black can create an intimate, reflective space in the kitchen. It's a trend that encourages personal expression and offers a stark alternative to airy, neutral colours. A versatile choice for contemporary, minimalist kitchens, dark tones offer an innovative way to experiment with a daring colour scheme – and you shouldn't shy away from it if your kitchen is on the smaller side either.
'Black is as varied as any other colour and doesn’t need to create a harsh look in a space,' says Melissa Klink, creative director at Harvey Jones. 'Softer blacks with warm undertones feel stylish, chic and sophisticated, and will make your kitchen feel bold and contemporary.
'A navy kitchen is a timeless choice. Harking back to the calm blues of nature, navy can be used alone or as a pop of colour in a neutral kitchen. It's a great base for patterns, texture and decor accessories, especially metallics.'
