Kristen Bell Is Sharing 1 Health-Related GoFundMe Every Week to Help a Family in Need: ‘Something Needs to Be Done’ (Exclusive)
The actress has teamed up with Quentin Quarantino to raise money for families with high healthcare expenses
Kristen Bell is extending the giving season.
On Monday, Dec. 30, the actress, 44, revealed in an Instagram post that she's collaborating with internet star Tommy Marcus, better known as Quentin Quarantino, to promote one health-related GoFundMe page a week.
The duo urged their combined almost 17 million followers to "read every slide" as they shared several screenshots from their DM conversation discussing how to raise money for people in financial need.
"I had this idea to harness this public energy around the broken healthcare system by sharing one health related GoFundMe every day for a week+ and changing the life of one family per day," Marcus wrote in an Instagram DM to Bell that was included in the post.

"I get so many tragic health insurance related GoFundMes sent to me per week," he continued. "Was wondering if you’d be interested in joining along starting tomorrow. Literally zero pressure if any part of that is uncomfortable for you, as you know my followers are already super generous but could be a big extra boost if they see us collabbing, cause, y’know, you’re you."
Bell was receptive to the idea, replying, "Love it."
She followed up with "absolutely" and a one-minute and 25-second voice note.
The post continued with other messages between Marcus and Bell, including one in which she offered to donate the remaining amount of money needed to support a fundraiser he had previously shared on his Instagram Stories.
Bell vowed to "do more" for those in desperate need of financial help.
"How can I give 100,000 to people who need it for medical bills? I want to make sure we do it in the best way how do we do it?" she wrote in a message, to which Marcus replied saying they could crowd-fund half of the amount and then she donates the remaining sum.
"Yes!! Tommy lets do it," she replied.
Marcus penned a lengthy caption for the post encouraging people to "donate, share, like, comment" to spread awareness of their endeavor and raise money for those in need.
"I truly believe this has the chance to be the some of the most important and impactful work we’ve ever done," he wrote. "The more you can donate, share, like, comment, do anything you can to make this into a movement - the better chance it has to become a huge thing, have other generous high-profile people like Kristen get involved, and overall, be a movement that we create to save and change so many lives.
"I know there is a sad element to this, but this is the system we are working with, and there are so many people who need help," he continued. "Neither Kristen, me, or you reading this can immediately make change happen on a policy level, but what we CAN do is change the futures of many families starting now."

Marcus revealed on his Instagram that they achieved their goal in just 20 minutes.
"I know on a certain level it sucks that we have to do this," Marcus wrote in another post with Bell. "We should not have to raise and give money in order for Americans to receive life saving medical treatment, but sadly, this is the reality."
