This Lakefront Estate in Michigan Could Fetch $1.7 Million at Auction This Month
While Michigan’s Detroit and Grand Rapids are known to draw crowds to the Great Lake State for their many cultural and entertainment options, the small township of Gregory is a nature lover’s paradise. If proximity to calm waters and unspoiled hardwood forests gets you starry-eyed, a lakefront estate that’s about 60 miles west of Motor City is headed to auction and could be for you.
The home, dubbed Eagle’s Crest and previously listed for $5.1 million, will hit the Interluxe auction block on August 26 with a starting bid of $1.7 million, leaving potential buyers ten days to gear up for previews of the residence from August 23 to August 25. The waterfront estate spans nearly three acres on what’s known as Treasure Island. It is bordered on one side by Halfmoon Lake and the other by Blind Lake and has about 400 feet of shoreline, along with two docks and a charming boathouse for getting out on the water.

The three Nantucket-style structures that comprise the estate were designed by the award-winning team at DesRosier Architects and built in 2019 with cedar shakes accented by Michigan fieldstone on the exterior. The three-bedroom main house is positioned right at the water’s edge and is complemented by a one-bedroom boathouse and a detached six-car garage with 1,000 square feet of unfinished space.

A stationed pair of binoculars for viewing the landscape greets visitors in the foyer, where one of the abode’s key details—a half-round picture window—is introduced. The living room ahead opens out to a wraparound deck, next to the gourmet kitchen and a lake-view dining area.
Arched windows span the second-floor primary suite with panoramic views across the lake. A sitting area is the ideal spot for taking in sunset views, and the ensuite bathroom features a soaking tub for evening relaxation. There’s a secondary bedroom suite on the same floor, as well as a private guest suite and sitting room at the top of a spiral staircase on the third floor.

Entertaining large groups outdoors is made easy with a number of patios featured throughout the grounds, including one for outdoor dining. A pathway leads down to the grandfathered boathouse that’s complete with a lift platform. Upstairs, there’s a kitchenette, bathroom, bedroom, and veranda overlooking the water. There’s also a designated area for boat storage on stringers, which can be lowered into the water for coasting along the lake.
The garage sits at the highest point of Eagle’s Crest with ample space to create a home theater, guest space, or art studio on its second floor. A sheltered lagoon with a Triton boat lift rounds out the property’s list of unique amenities. Visit Interluxe.com for more details on the auction.
