The last month of summer is upon us. Check out these Whatcom County August events

August is here, and The Bellingham Herald has put together a guide of fun, local events for you to enjoy this month.

The following is a monthly roundup of key Bellingham events, festivals, trivia nights and live music this month. For a complete list of local events, visit bellinghamherald.com/events.

Bellingham events

The Up Up Up Circus will be performing at Stones Throw Brewery from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2. The touring circus show is open to all ages and is free to watch. The brewery recommends bringing your own blankets and lawn chairs. Beer and soda are available for purchase at the brewery, and Galley2Go and Cicchetti’s Pizza food trucks will be open. Stones Throw Brewery is at 1009 Larrabee Ave.

Have you ever wanted to tour a cemetery? The Buried BellingHistory - Bayview Cemetery Tour invites visitors along a historic tour of the cemetery from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The walking tour covers less than 1 mile in distance and is put on by The Good Time Girls. Tickets cost $30 per person and must be purchased online in advance. Bayview Cemetery is at 2465 Lakeway Dr.

The second annual Noisy Waters Mural Festival returns to Bellingham’s waterfront, showcasing a variety of murals and artists from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 16-18. The festival features over 30 artists and hosts live music, food trucks, kids’ activities and more. The festival is at 298 W Laurel St.

The Summer Waterfront Arts Festival and Makers Market will feature a variety of local vendors and artists during the Noisy Waters Mural Festival. The market will be open from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18 at 1100 Granary Ave.

The Salish Sea Butoh Festival, a festival celebrating Japanese Butoh, a blend of dance, theater and performing arts, takes place at 7 p.m. Aug. 16-17. Tickets cost $20 per person and can be purchased online or at the door. The festival is at FireHouse Arts & Events Center at 1314 Harris Ave.

The Bellingham Farmers Market is back on its regular weekly schedule with 100 vendors selling produce, flowers, handmade products and more. The market runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday at The Depot at 1100 Railroad Ave.

The Bellingham Dockside Market will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 and 17 at 722 Coho Way. This market allows fishermen to sell their freshly caught fish directly from their boats. For the latest information on each week’s vendors, visit the market’s Facebook page.

The Barkley Market runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday through Aug. 29 at 2215 Rimland Drive. The market includes food trucks, live music and local vendors.

The Fairhaven Outdoor Cinema is back, with outdoor movies each week through Saturday, August 24. The event costs $7 per person with cash, or $8 with a card, and concessions are available for purchase. Before each movie, a live band will perform at 6:30 p.m. Movies will start around 8 p.m., and guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets and beach chairs. The outdoor cinema is at The Fairhaven Village Green is at 1207 10th St. in Bellingham.

The North Cascades Bluegrass Festival, featuring national, regional and local bands, camping, workshops and a beer and cider garden, will run from Saturday, Aug. 31 through Sunday, Sept. 1. The festival costs $75 for both days for adults, or $45 for one day admission. Tickets can be purchased online in advance and vary by age. The North Cascade Bluegrass Festival is at The Deming Log Show Grounds at 3295 Cedarville Rd. in Bellingham.

Live music in Bellingham

Stone’s Throw Brewery has free live music for all ages from 6 to 8 p.m. throughout August. For the lineup of artists, check the brewery’s website or Facebook page. Stone’s Throw Brewery is at 1009 Larrabee Ave.

The Aslan Brewing Co. Depot welcomes local artists throughout August. For the music lineup, check the schedule online. Aslan Brewing Co. Depot is at 1322 N. State St.

Kulshan Brewing Company’s various breweries are hosting live music throughout August. For the music lineup and locations, check the schedule online.

The Blue Room, a live music and event venue, regularly hosts live performers and performances, including jazz nights, local artists, and improv nights. Tickets are available online in advance. The Blue Room is at 202 E. Holly St.

The Shakedown, a live music venue and bar, regularly hosts live music and performers. Tickets are available online in advance. The Shakedown is at 1212 N State St.

Wild Buffalo House of Music, a live music and event venue, regularly hosts live music and performers. Tickets are available online in advance. Wild Buffalo House of Music is at 208 W. Holly St.
