Laverne Cox Channels Dark Glamour in Vintage Alexander McQueen Matador Coat for SAG Awards 2024 Red Carpet
Laverne Cox brought dark glamour to the red carpet at the 2024 SAG Awards on Saturday in Los Angeles.
The actress and E! red carpet host looked to her own archive, selecting an asymmetrical coat from Alexander McQueen’s fall 1996 “Dante” collection, which was originally modeled by Helena Christensen. Cox paired her outerwear with a sheer Bao Tranchi bodysuit and velvet Morgan Foote maxiskirt, adding on a vintage John Galliano for Christian Dior choker featuring layers of black beads. A pair of matching velvet gloves by Garo Sparo completed her look.

Cox has been known to favor vintage looks on the red carpet. In recent months, she’s sported retro ensembles from Thierry Mugler at the Emmys and the People’s Choice Awards, opting for strapless silhouettes from the label’s 1988 and 1989 archives, respectively. Cox reportedly owns more than 500 pieces created by the late designer, who passed away in 2022.
Cox isn’t the only star who’s worn vintage McQueen lately: at the Seoul premiere of “Dune: Part Two” last week, Zendaya donned a glowing circuitboard skirt suit from Givenchy’s fall 1999 collection, which was dreamed up by then-head designer, McQueen.
Founded in 1995, the Screen Actors Guild Awards solicit votes from members of the SAG-AFTRA union, which includes over 119,000 performers across the film and television industry. At the 30th annual ceremony, Barbra Streisand will receive the Life Achievement Award.
