Lazada One: Six floors for work and fun – all in one!
If you’ve ever wondered what the perfect workspace for an e-commerce giant looks like, you’ll find your answer in Lazada’s new headquarters in Singapore: Lazada One. Fit for one of the leading online shopping platforms in Southeast Asia, it houses employees from Lazada’s regional and Singapore offices, right in the heart of town.
A celebration of Lazada’s recent coming of age after 10 years in the industry, it occupies six floors that were thoughtfully designed to help employees thrive. Although it features an open-concept layout like many on-trend workspaces today with dedicated collaborative areas and private pods to accommodate different needs, Lazada One is truly one of a kind – with a kitchen-studio setup for filming RedMart livestreams and more!
Work in the digital sector is ever evolving, which is why you would rarely expect there to be a dull day at Lazada. Although Lazada One is brimming with characterful touches that reflect the dynamic nature of the industry, it also offers a conducive working environment as the main base for its tenacious team.
At the headquarters, individual floors are themed to tickle the imagination. For example, one of them features meeting rooms named after popular shopping malls, while another hosts iconic Singapore locations including Clarke Quay and Dempsey Hill. Imagine being called for a meeting by your boss at Marina Bay Sands in the morning, followed by a mid-day discussion at Seletar Shopping Mall – all without having to step outside the building and break a sweat! Besides encouraging employees to exchange ideas and mingle, these collaborative areas also ensure that teams can quickly hop into ad-hoc meetups as they keep pace with the rapid world of e-commerce.
For those who are more productive in quieter spaces, private pods are available across all the floors for avoiding distractions, taking sensitive calls, and simply getting things done. Designed in different shapes and sizes, some are sound-proofed and able to fit up to four employees if necessary. On top of offering employees more options to work comfortably, the cosy pods also serve as colourful accents that add visual points of interest to Lazada One’s sprawling layout.
If you’re a foodie, it’s hard not to get enticed by the fully stocked pantries at Lazada One. Best for pick-me-ups on busy days, each floor features one with a different theme, like the instantly recognisable HDB ‘void deck’ on the ninth floor. On the fifth floor, the pantry resembles a trendy café, with a variety of fruits, snacks, and instant noodles on display. As you munch on your lunch, you’ll even get an extra boost of inspiration from a neon sign reminding you to ’Be the energy that you want to attract’.
As more companies in Singapore begin to focus on the total wellbeing of their employees, Lazada is one of the few to step ahead of the curve by including a wellness room on every floor of its headquarters. Equipped with relaxing armchairs, employees can hit the pause button and recharge by catching forty winks during their breaks in complete privacy.
In breaking away from the stuffiness of a regular office, there are also plenty of living green walls and potted plants to infuse Lazada One with more fresh air. On top of complementing the vibrant interiors and décor, they make every floor an IG-friendly #ootd wonderland.
Ultimately, Lazada’s move to Lazada One reflects its readiness to take e-commerce in the region to the next level. Driven by its ongoing commitment towards the long-term growth of the industry, its headquarters is ideally placed to inspire students from the schools in its vicinity to cultivate and nurture the next generation. By maintaining its focus on grooming the talent of tomorrow via roles in data science, engineering, product management, cybersecurity, and the like, Lazada is all set to boost its innovative capabilities for the future. If its 11.11 campaign in 2021 had Singaporeans spending a jaw-dropping US$11 million within the first nine minutes of sales, there’s no telling how far it is set to go!
