Leighton Meester and Adam Brody Have Separate Toilets For the Most Relatable Reason

When it comes to marriage, team work makes the dream work. But sometimes, part of making the dream work includes having separate space and privacy for the most intimate moments. Leighton Meester and Adam Brody can relate, and as such, have separate bathrooms in the house, in which to do their, uh, business.

While speaking with Access Hollywood’s Mario Lopez and Kit Hoover during the red carpet for the 2025 Golden Globe Awards on January 5, the married couple was told that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban revealed on the red carpet that the “secret to a successful marriage” is their separate showers and separate toilets. The revelation wasn't all that surprising to Meester and Brody, because they have their own separate toilets, too.

“We have de facto separate toilets,” the O.C. actor said on the red carpet. “I go in the office. It’s nice. One layer farther away from the kids and one layer more deep with privacy.”

While the arrangement might sound strange to some, the Gossip Girl actress revealed that the bathrooms aren't assigned or picked out—she's willing to use whichever restroom is available for her to go to. “I just put no thought into the toilet situation whatsoever,” she hilariously added. “Never crossed my mind.”

Though going to the bathroom gives the parents some privacy from their two children, they couldn't be happier about the family that they're building. "It's all just so intimate and private. It's something that I could never put into words, really. It's such an emotional journey to have children, and it certainly has made me reflect on my own upbringing and childhood," Meester told People back in 2023. "Having children, I want to give them all that we never had when we were growing up, but also to be candid and open about how grateful we should be for everything that we have."
