It's been seven years since Lena Dunham last starred in her most notable project, the TV series Girls. Since then, she's gone on to feature in and provide the brains for other shows such as Camping, Industry and Genera+ion.

Now, the writer, director, actor and producer is set to create an upcoming series on Netflix titled Too Much. The rom-com will be set in London and sees New Yorker Jessica (Megan Stalter) begin her new life in the English capital following a difficult break-up from her ex-boyfriend, Felix (Will Sharpe).

While many fans were anticipating Dunham's return to television, the actor recently confirmed that she won't be starring in her upcoming TV series after enduring body shaming while playing Hannah in Girls.

In a recent interview with the New Yorker, she revealed that she refuses to put herself under the same physical scrutiny again. 'Physically, I was just not up for having my body dissected again.'

'I also think that I was not willing to have another experience like what I’d experienced around Girls at this point in my life. Physically, I was just not up for having my body dissected again. It was a hard choice, not to cast Meg — because I knew I wanted Meg — but to admit that to myself,' Dunham stated.

Elsewhere, the 38-year-old discussed how her definition of happiness since her earlier acting and producing days have shifted.

'I used to think that winning meant you just keep doing it and you don’t care what anybody thinks,' she explained. 'I forgot that winning is actually just protecting yourself and doing what you need to do to keep making work...What makes me feel powerful is making my work. It’s the only thing I want to do.'
