A New Levi's Collab With Kiko Kostadinov Has Just Dropped
Levi’s know what they’re doing when it comes to collabs. Last year saw the release of a partnership with Kenzo, the first with creative director Nigo under the helm, to much acclaim. There were also collections with streetwear stalwarts Stüssy, So-Cal star ERL and design studio-cum-brand JJJJound. If it’s a cool brand that’s a bit IYKYK and often worn by modish man with perfectly curated Instagrams, then Levi’s will likely have collaborated with them.
That brings us onto their latest launch, a capsule with independent label Kiko Kostadinov: a mainstay designer for East London dwellers with “self-made creative” topping their resumes.
First debuted as part of the KK autumn/winter ’24 show back in January, the collection features denim pieces inspired by the Levi’s archive. For menswear, Kostadinov reinterpreted a new knee and elbow darting construction where eyelet details puncture the diamond panels, inspired by the traditional Bulgarian motifs of the designer’s homeland.
This formed into a coordinating denim jacket and jeans set, but the all-American’s famed cotton-twill isn’t the only material on offer. The hybrid jacket/cardigan comes in a soft jersey in black and grey, inspired by vintage sportswear silhouettes.
This isn’t the first collaborative endeavour by Kiko Kostadinov. The London-based brand has been running since 2016, and has seen the aforementioned crowd (shout out to the art school grads for their particular penchant for it) favour the partnership with Asics.
Having run (pun intended) since 2018 to much success, it doesn’t seem like that creative alliance will be ending anytime soon. A prime footwear option to pair with your new denim designs, where cool kudos is guaranteed.
