This Light-Filled London Apartment Overlooking Hyde Park Can Be Yours for $15.8 Million

This newly listed central London apartment lets you have one of the most well-known public green spaces in the British capital as your front yard.

Across the street from Hyde Park, the largest of the U.K.’s five Royal Parks, the three-bedroom, three-bath pad in the heart of Connaught Village is on the market for £12.5 million (or roughly $15.8 million). The lateral flat is nestled on the first floor of Hyde Park Gardens, a stucco-fronted development dating back to the early 19th century. Altogether, the stately spread measures 3,123 square feet and is adorned with three wrought-iron balconies overlooking the park.

The palatial apartment has undergone a bright, airy revamp but still has many of its original period details intact. According to listing agent Becky Fatemi of Sotheby’s International Realty, the place “boasts incredible views, light, and ceiling heights throughout.” Most notably, the contemporary-looking residence combines original architectural elements like classical proportions, soaring 13-foot-plus ceilings, and plenty of bay windows.

Spanning the length of three buildings, the home sports several communal spaces, including a generously sized reception area that doubles as a formal dining room. There’s also a TV lounge, a modern chef’s kitchen with gleaming white cabinets, and a cozy breakfast room. When it comes to the sleeping quarters, each bedroom is ensuite. The primary, however, has the benefit of a giant walk-in wardrobe and a private balcony.

Hyde Park Gardens in Westminster is considered one of London’s most exclusive addresses, and residents of the Grade II-listed building, believed to have been designed by architect John Crake, have access to a communal garden, an elevator, and an on-site porter. The neoclassical terrace was originally created as a string of townhouses for English royals and aristocrats. However, most of the grand mansions within the development have since been converted into apartments.

“With the regeneration of the Bayswater area and The Hyde Park Estate, the north of the park is now considered the next core area of London’s finest properties,” added Fatemi. “With Six Senses and several high-profile new luxury residential schemes being built in the area, coupled with the rarity of such period properties, this becomes more than just a home and more of a collector’s item.
