Sunscreen is easily my most-used beauty product. I'm never stepping outside without slathering sunblock on my ultra-pale skin, but I'm particularly picky when it comes to face formulas. After trying my fair share of products, I've accumulated a stacked list of SPF red flags to avoid: stinging eyes, overwhelming scents, greasy residues, heavy textures and pilling. Yet out of the handful of winning sunscreen formulas I keep in regular rotation, one stands out from the rest: Hero Cosmetics Force Shield Superlight Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30.

Created specifically for acne-prone skin, this mineral sunscreen glides on with a lightweight, creamy texture that quickly blends into a sheer finish. Its feather-light feel lasts all day long without seeping into my eyes or melting off from the summertime heat. Plus, even though my sensitive skin gets angry easily, it keeps things calm.

But what truly sets this formula apart is also the weirdest aspect of it: its green tint. Unconventional for a sunscreen, yes, but it's also pretty genius, particularly for those who are prone to breakouts, flushing and other pale-skin-person problems. The green hue counteracts redness (they're opposites on the color wheel for a reason!), which makes this sunscreen a particularly helpful option for a no-makeup day. It also leaves behind a slightly dewy sheen, which I'm convinced is the main reason I get so many compliments on my skin when I wear it. But it also does wonders as a base for makeup, imbuing that glow-from-within effect without causing products layered atop it to pill or slide around.

Since first being introduced to Hero Cosmetics' sunscreen last year, I've already emptied three full-size bottles. And I see many more in my future.
