‘Lioness’ S2 Will Kick Off a Sheridan-Heavy FallParamount

It’s (almost) time to dive back into the world of Lioness. The military thriller hails from Taylor Sheridan, the co-creator of Yellowstone (and a billion other shows). Instead of probing the lives of ranchers, Lioness follows a group of female CIA agents who befriend the daughters and wives of terrorists. The cast is just as impressive as the concept: Zoë Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Laysla De Oliveira, Michael Kelly, and Morgan Freeman (!).

If you didn’t already know, Lioness is inspired by a real CIA program. Saldaña plays Joe McNamara, a bullish operative who struggles to balance her career and family life. Season 1 provided a glimpse of that juggling act. In the finale, Joe’s daughter, Kate (Hannah Love Lanier), recovers from a car accident. Meanwhile, Cruz (De Oliveira), Joe’s spy, falls in love with her target, Aaliyah (Stephanie Nur), and is forced to kill Aaliyah’s fiancé, Ehsan Al Rashdi (Ray Corasani), and her powerful father, Asmar (Bassem Youssef). Cruz completes the mission but suggests Asmar’s death was pointless. “All we changed was oil prices,” she says.

Alas, the fight continues in season 2. Joe is back to her usual shenanigans. As if waging a war on terror weren’t hard enough, she’s tasked with training someone new and fixing her family. Per the logline, “Joe, Kaitlyn [Kidman], and Byron [Kelly] enlist a new Lioness operative to infiltrate a previous threat. With pressure mounting from all sides, Joe is forced to confront the profound personal sacrifices she has made as the leader of the Lioness program.”

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to see how that shakes out. The next season will be here before you know it. But if you are ready to...you know, know it, we’ve got you covered. Below, you’ll find a release schedule for season 2.
