Little Debbie Just Launched a Brand-New Version of a Cult-Classic Treat
It combines two of our favorite Little Debbie treats.
Do you have a favorite Little Debbie snack cake? Maybe it's one of the brand's permanent offerings—fan favorites like Zebra Cakes, Strawberry Shortcake Rolls, Oatmeal Creme Pies, and Cosmic Brownies. Or perhaps you wait months for its seasonal items, like the Christmas Tree Cakes that are part of its holiday lineup.
In our taste test of that holiday lineup, the North Pole Nutty Buddy wafer bars took the top spot. Those wafer bars are the holiday version of the classic Nutty Buddy, a wafer bar with a peanut butter filling and a chocolate coating. They’re a beloved classic, and Little Debbie fans can now experience the treat in a reinvented form.
Little Debbie’s New Nutty Buddy Cream Pies
Think of this new Little Debbie treat as a Nutty Buddy crossed with a Peanut Butter Creme Pie. The flavors of the classic wafer are reinvented with a soft-baked peanut butter cookie, a creamy peanut butter filling, and a chocolaty coating. It’s a sweet and salty combo that’s “both familiar and fresh,” says a Little Debbie representative. If you're a tried-and-true fan of the classic Nutty Buddy, there's no need to panic. You’ll still be able to find them on store shelves.
Several Instagram snack accounts have already leaked the news to fans, and @Snackolator's followers are already dreaming up ways to serve them. One fan suggested they should be “warmed up and put on top of some vanilla ice cream.” (Sounds good to us!) And a fan of the classic version was hopeful about the new iteration: “I already love nutty buddies, so these are gonna be sinful.”
Nutty Buddy Cream Pies should be in stores nationwide in "just a few days," according to a Little Debbie representative. Each box will include six "generously sized" creme pies, and each one is individually wrapped, so grabbing one on your way out the door or throwing them in a lunch box will be a cinch.
We don't know about you, but we'll be on the lookout for that little girl in the straw hat on store shelves. If her new treat is half as good as the original, we think we're in for something pretty fabulous.
