Macon bakery with a ‘big personality’ offers something for everyone. Take a look.

A local business set to celebrate its two-year opening anniversary next month started out as a specialty bakery but now offers so much more.

Located in Macon’s historic Ingleside Village, Oh Honey Baking Co. was opened in June 2022 by owner and cake designer Adriana Horton.

“I love that we add offerings to the community that weren’t here before,” Horton said. “In the past it seemed that Macon lacked businesses with big personalities, which is why we are proud to be nestled between two beautiful big personality woman-led businesses, Ingleside Village Pizza and Society Garden.”

Horton said she began baking and decorating cakes at Fountain of Juice and Publix Bakery. However, after her son was born, she said she decided to step away from those positions to focus on her family full-time.

In 2018, Horton’s husband was working at The Society Garden, so she said she naturally spent a lot of time there.

“I fell in love with the space next door with its big windows and cozy alley. I could clearly see a couch and living room-style space looking out onto Ingleside,” she said. “Before I knew it, I was able to open our current bakery and café with the help of my incredible family and investors.”

Horton said Oh Honey Baking Co. caters to all people, no matter their diet or lifestyle, and for that reason, she says the bakery offers one of the most extensive selections of gluten-free and vegan pastries in Macon.

She said the business also loves to provide an interactive customer experience, so it is constantly sharing fun seasonal drinks and foods, flights and community events.

Horton said owning a local business is a community affair, which is why Oh Honey Baking Co. spotlights items made by other small business wholesale bakers in Macon, including Lisa Mae Cakes and Chloe’s Cookies. She also said when the bakery hosts events, artists and vendors are invited to sell their craft goods.

What started off as a specialty cake bakery has evolved into so much more with Oh Honey Baking Co. now offering coffees, teas, sandwiches, soups, macarons, and an array of pastries. And, Horton said the bakery offers a safe space for all members of the community regardless of gender, race, or sexuality.

“We love that we can offer such a small service that makes a huge difference in a customer’s day, whether it be a small cup of Joe to get the morning going or a little treat at the end of a difficult work day,” she said. “It’s so rewarding seeing our customers build new relationships with one another as well as receiving so much positive feedback from our regulars.”

The bakery also offers donations to businesses and events in the community, such as Macon Periods Easier, Bike Walk Macon, Mercer Student Housing, Women in Business, The Hay House and more.

Horton said it’s important to her to lift up the community through her business and she’s always striving to improve offerings and community involvement.

“We operate with a strong philosophy that when you uplift your community, your community will have your back,” she said. “I’ve poured my soul into this space and the offerings we’ve created as a team, and I hope our community can feel that energy.”

Oh Honey Baking Co. is located at 2391 Ingleside Avenue and can be reached at 478-259-6061.
