Fire Engulfs Factory in Wolverhampton

A major incident was declared after a large fire engulfed a derelict factory in Wolverhampton late on December 5.

Firefighters were called to the site at Lower Horseley Fields just after 9 pm, they said.

The West Midlands Fire Service said more than 100 firefighters were working to control the blaze at one stage.

A major incident was declared “due to the size of the incident and its proximity to the nearby railway line and houses,” a fire service statement said.

As of 6:30 am on December 6, five engines remained at the scene.

Police said there were road closures and train disruptions as a result of the fire. Credit: Jamie Millar via Storyful
