A Nevada man has been charged with murder and other counts after he allegedly watched his friend kill another friend over a live video stream while cheering on his actions, authorities say, per reports.

Police in Las Vegas arrested Stefan Jakubov on March 15 in connection with the August death of Aaron Chavez, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirms to PEOPLE.

Chavez was found dead near a highway in Baker, Calif., on Aug. 13, the LVMPD said in a statement at the time.

The victim's charred remains were discovered a few feet from a man named Gino Julian, who had called for a tow truck after his car got stuck in the sand, 8 News Now reported, citing police.

Officials from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department arrested Julian, 30, in Baker that day and the case was transferred to the LVMPD after authorities determined that the alleged killing took place in their jurisdiction, per the LVMPD's August statement.

Following a months-long investigation, Las Vegas authorities issued an arrest warrant for Jakubov on March 6, online court records show.

After his arrest, Jakubov allegedly confessed to authorities that he watched Julian punch Chavez several times over a video feed, 8 News Now reported on Monday, citing police.

Text messages allegedly show Jakubov egging on Julian to carry out the killing, 8 News Now reported following Jakubov's arrest, citing police.

“Break his face,” read one of Jakubov’s alleged messages to Julian, per police. “Delete our convos,” Jakubov allegedly wrote in another message, police said, according to the outlet.
