Man Confesses to Decapitating His Wife

On Aug. 25, Davie Dauzat’s brother called the police. He said that Davie was making “weird statements” to him on the phone and thought that he might be on drugs. But when police showed up, things were fine. When police came back hours later, they found a gruesome scene.

People reports that Dauzat, 23, admitted to police that he killed his wife, Natasha, cut off her head, and stored it in his freezer. He apparently said the killing was “a battle between good and evil.” The couple’s two children, ages 1 and 3, were unharmed, but were found covered in Natasha’s blood.

According to the Waco Tribune-Herald, Dauzat told police that he used drugs before he killed his wife, but it was unclear what drugs he took other than marijuana, which he said he smoked earlier that day with Natasha. Police found drug paraphernalia in the house. Authorities found no narcotics in the home, according to KWTX.

Last week, a grand jury indicted him for the murder of his wife. He’s in police custody on a $500,000 bond, and his attorney did not respond to the Associated Press’s messages seeking comment.

Natasha’s mother, Patricia Tagliarino, told the Waco Tribune-Herald that the family is still reeling over her loss. “Those children were her world,” Tagliarino said. “She loved that man to death, and I guess that’s what killed her.”
