A man declined a free $11,000 ticket to Super Bowl 2025 in order to attend his sister-in-law's wedding and the internet is divided over his decision.

The man's wife, Jessica Anderson, recently posted about the tough choice on TikTok. "Next time you're sad, just remember Tim had to decline a free $11,000 Super Bowl ticket to attend my sister's wedding," she wrote in an on-screen caption.

The video amassed more than 1 million views in less than 24 hours.

TikTokers flooded the comments section, arguing about whether or not Tim made the right call. Some commenters said that no wedding experience could top a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend the Super Bowl for free. Others countered that family should come first.

"Okay but why would anyone plan their wedding Super Bowl weekend," the top comment with nearly 23,000 likes reads.

"I’m not even a football fan but that’s absolutely insane to not let him go," one person commented, with another individual disagreeing, "These comments need to get a grip. I'm glad your man loves and values you because the comment section cannot relate."

Because many users thought Jessica didn't "allow" her husband to accept the ticket, she decided to post a follow-up video to clarify what actually happened.

"Y'all are so triggered. Let me clear things up," she said. "My husband was allowed to go to the Super Bowl. He decided to not go on his own."

While not attending the Super Bowl was a decision of his own free will, even if Tim had wanted to go he couldn't.

"It was logistically impossible for him to attend because he was invited at 9 p.m. the day before we were leaving on our flight to Mexico for the wedding," she said. "And for everyone saying, 'Oh, my God, it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience,' I do not subscribe to that limiting belief. I will be going to the Super Bowl many more times in this lifetime, so keep that belief to yourself."

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 at Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9. It is unclear whether or not Tim and Jessica had any time to watch the game on television amid the family nuptials.
