A New York City man was killed Wednesday after trying to stop two suspects who allegedly broke into his car in Queens, police said, according to reports from CBS New York, ABC 7 and FOX 5.
Mauro Chimbay, 43, was playing volleyball in East Elmhurst when he saw two people exit a white BMW and allegedly break into his Toyota SUV and take a box, reports CBS New York, citing police.
Chimbay attempted to stop the suspects by jumping on the hood of the BMW, police say ABC 7 reports.
As the BMW was driving away from the scene, Chimbay was thrown from the hood and suffered serious head trauma, the outlets reported. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident yet. ABC reports that the BMW is thought to have a Massachusetts license plate.
Chimbay was a father of two, CBS reports, with his wife telling the outlet that he was a very sociable person.
