Police in Louisiana say they are investigating the death of a man who allegedly died following a bar fight during a surprise bachelor party he organized for his childhood friend, according to reports.

Devin Repath, 26, was pronounced dead on Tuesday following a “fist fighting incident” at a bar early Saturday morning in Baton Rouge, La., the city's police department has said in a statement

"Repath was taken to a local hospital after being struck and knocked unconscious," the statement said of Saturday's incident.

An autopsy report determined that Repath, who had two young sons, died of blunt force trauma, WAFB reports. Baton Rouge police are investigating the death as a homicide, according to their Tuesday statement.

Repath, of Westwego, La., was celebrating his childhood friend’s bachelor party that he helped plan, the groom's mother told NOLA.com.

A witness who intervened, identified only as Simon G., told NOLA.com that he was sitting just feet away from the "savage fighting." He described the alleged attacker as a "deranged," tall man who allegedly used his hands to bludgeon Repath's head and body, per the outlet.

"You ever see somebody and they look like they have demons in them? He had anger in his eyes, and he was causing trouble," Simon told the outlet, adding that the fight lasted only about 30-40 seconds.

“Devin’s absence has left an irreplaceable void in our lives,” reads the fundraiser.

Police have said they are following “several leads” and are reviewing security footage to investigate the incident, according to FOX 8. Authorities are working with the police at the Louisiana State University, given the bar's proximity to the campus, police said, per the outlet.

When speaking with NOLA.com, Simon G. said that the bouncers at the bar had escorted the alleged attacker out, but it's not clear if that person has been identified by authorities.

As of their latest announcement on Tuesday afternoon, police did not release any information about a suspect or persons of interest, motive, or any other circumstances surrounding the homicide.

Anyone with information on this investigation is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (225)389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225)344-7867.
