'The Masked Singer' Fans Say They're "Done" After Last Night's Results

From Good Housekeeping

  • The Masked Singer season 3 welcomed Group C — Astronaut, T-Rex, Rhino, Night Angel, Swan, and Bear — to the stage Wednesday night.

  • After Bear's elimination, folks online started getting upset about the way the in-studio audience voted.

  • Bear ended up being former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin.

Last night's results on The Masked Singer really rubbed some folks the wrong way — and they're taking to Twitter to vent about it.

Despite an all-around amazing effort from Group C's singers — Astronaut, Bear, T-Rex, Swan, Rhino, and Night Angel — one contestant was forced to "take it off!" and leave the competition on Wednesday. After the studio audience casted their votes, that contestant ended up being Bear, who was later revealed to be former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin.

Even though the 2008 vice presidential candidate gave an energetic and rousing rendition of Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back," the studio audience deemed her performance the weakest of the evening. This apparently upset some viewers at home, who thought that, instead, T-Rex should've been sent packing after her take on P!nk's "So What." Others, meanwhile, took things a step further, demanding that the studio audience "stop voting off legends."

By the looks of things, fans haven't been too thrilled about the past few eliminations on The Masked Singer. Notably, folks were mad when Mouse, a.k.a. Grammy-winning artist Dionne Warwick, and Miss Monster, R&B legend Chaka Khan, were voted off so soon in the competition. At the time, fans labeled the results as "disrespectful" and called for a "new voting system" to be put in place.

While it's unlikely that The Masked Singer is going to alter the way contestants are voted through this season, showrunner Izzie Pick Ibarra has previously told Good Housekeeping that a live-show format that allows folks watching at home to vote is something that has been "discussed" among producers before. That said, it wouldn't be an easy adjustment for the Fox show — this would require all sorts of massive changes and make things trickier to keep the disguised celebrities a secret.

Then again, it would be amazing to get to vote for your favorite contestants while watching on your couch, à la America's Got Talent or The Voice.

So, Masked Singer, the ball is in your court!
