Maximalist Manicures Came Out In Full Force For The Grammys
Over the years, we've come to expect avant garde, experimental fashion on the Grammys red carpet. Last night's occasion certainly delivered, with ELLE's cover star Lady Gaga sauntering in wearing a dramatic Vivienne Westwood ensemble while Charli XCX channelled Brat goddess vibes in Jean Paul Gaultier.
The Grammys hair and make-up looks did not disappoint either. Sabrina Carpenter gave us old-Hollywood faux bob while Chappell Roan once again delivered show-stopping glam. But it was the manicures that truly took on a starring role. Recent years saw nails emerging as an important avenue for self-expression, so it was refreshing to see celebrities finally embracing creative nail art on the red carpet. From cat-eye nails and chrome designs to modern twists on the French manicure, it's clear that manicurists such as Mycah Dior and Coca Michelle are hard at work creating these little pieces of art.
Cynthia Erivo is a trailblazer in the nail department. Last night, she went with a midnight blue-themed set to complement her Louis Vuitton look while Victoria Monét kept things sophisticated with an ivory-white manicure complete with 3-D nail art. Elsewhere, some stars leant into the Valentine's Day mood with ruby red manicures. Taylor Swift dialled hers up with a shimmery finish, Olivia Rodrigo opted for a chic blood-red set (a beauty editor staple hue), and Poppy took home the gold with translucent, jelly-like finishes and a sweetheart nail art design.
Ahead, the very best manicures from the 2025 Grammys red carpet
Cynthia Erivo
Never one to disappoint, Cynthia Erivo's midnight hour-themed nails by Mycah Dior came with plenty for jewel embellishments to match her jewellery and shades of rich blue as a nod to her navy Louis Vuitton look.
Doechii
Also playing matchy-matchy is Doechii, who went with a square-tipped silver and grey manicure by @allhailthynail to complement her Thom Browne look.
Taylor Swift
It's all burning red for Taylor Swift who walked the red carpet looking like the embodiment of Valentine's Day itself. We love how the deep red hue mirrors her garnet ring.
Lady Gaga
ELLE's cover star Lady Gaga channeled her inner glamour goth with a high-shine jet-black manicure Morticia Addams would approve.
Sabrina Carpenter
The Espresso singer debuted a faux bob and kept it sweet and romantic with her delicately bejewelled chrome nails, created by manicurist Zola Ganzorigt.
Cardi B
Ever the maximalist, Cardi B's XXL-talons delivered high drama to mirror her Roberto Cavalli ensemble.
Janelle Monáe
Finally, a cat-eye manicure sighting on the red carpet. Janelle Monáe went with a contrasting silver finish to play up her gold jewellery.
Olivia Rodrigo
Leaning into the on-trend dark cherry trend, Olivia Rodrigo's shorter style is ultra chic.
Raye
Matching your manicure to your Armani Privé gown, your make-up and your jewellery? Former ELLE cover star Raye is certainly the beauty icon of our times.
Shenseea
Singer Shenseea proves that you can never be too sparkly on the Grammys red carpet. This bedazzled manicure is going straight onto our mood boards for our next party look.
Poppy
Valentine's Day nail art, sorted! Poppy's jelly-like, translucent red manicure is a fresh take on the classic scarlet nail. The little heart is a super cute finishing touch.
Victoria Monét
Clear, 3-D, crystal-like nail art is huge on social media right now and we love Victoria Monét's grown-up, ivory take by manicurist Coca Michelle.
