Maya Jama's plunging blazer and hip-high leg slit is a fresh take on the LBD
After starting the year as a regular on our TV screens thanks to her role as host of Love Island All Stars, it's safe to say we've missed Maya Jama and her unreal wardrobe lately. Luckily, our girl found an occasion to hit the red carpet, turning up in more ways than one to a private view of the new Cartier exhibition last night [Wednesday 9 April] ahead of its opening at The V&A museum in London this weekend.
Maya arrived wearing a plunging black blazer with nothing underneath. The cropped jacket featured statement 3D floral detailing at the shoulders, neckline and cuffs, elevating it significantly. She paired the statement piece with a black satin maxi skirt with a daringly high leg slit that reached almost to her hip. It also gave a flash of the skirt's ivory lining.
Sheer black tights and coordinating pumps completed the look, along with diamond drop earrings that were on full display as Maya pulled her hair off her face into a chic updo, leaving loose flyaways to frame her face.
Obviously, a classy venue calls for equally classy attire in contrast to the cut-out latex dresses, see-through dresses and exposed thongs that became Maya's signature in the Love Island villa. Yet she somehow managed to effortlessly nail both demure dressing and subtle sexiness in the ensemble, which we're categorising as a fresh take on the classic LBD.
Maya's latest outing follows her appearance at The Olivier Awards 2025 where she followed a similar outfit formula. For the ceremony, she opted for a John Galliano grey tweed co-ord consisting of a blazer with a built-in shirt and adorned with bows at the elbow-length sleeves and the small of her back. A mid-length pencil skirt and white court shoes completed the look that was all kinds of office siren chic.
Just a reminder of some of Maya's most jaw-dropping Love Island looks...
Yep, no matter the dress code, she can do it all. We stan our style queen!
