McDonald's Announces It's Making Big Changes To The McFlurry
Who says bigger is always better?
McDonald's is releasing the first-ever Mini McFlurry, and it's the perfect size for when you want something a little sweet to hold you over. The mini serving of Mickey D's fan favorite McFlurry will be available on September 10 at participating restaurants in the U.S.
Whether you're an Oreo McFlurry fanatic or prefer your McFlurry loaded with colorful M&M's, all options for the frozen dessert will be available in the new miniature size.
In addition to rolling out the new Mini McFlurry, McDonald's announced yet another big change. The restaurant plans to phase out its plastic McFlurry lids and replace them with environmentally friendly four-flap cups.
The four-flap cups are already available in several international markets, including Canada and Indonesia. For McDonald's, the new McFlurry cups mark a step in the right direction for the restaurant's commitment to sustainability and reducing waste.
"Packaging updates like this matter,” said Michael Gonda, SVP, Chief Impact Officer of North America for McDonald's, in a statement. “Not only is this a fun new way for our U.S. fans to enjoy the McFlurry; we're also moving one step closer to fulfilling our packaging and waste commitments.”
With new, environmentally-friendly offerings like the four-flap cups, McDonald's hopes to achieve its goal of sourcing 100% of primary guest packaging from renewable, recycled or certified materials by the end of 2025.
The four-flap cups will also be made available at McDonald's locations starting this month.
