The new year has arrived, and for millions of Americans that means setting goals for 2025 and coming up with New Year's resolutions.

If you are looking to start the new year by going shopping or with some breakfast, the good news is most grocery, retail, and restaurant chains will be open on New Year's Day, albeit some with adjusted hours.

If you are not in the mood to cook on Jan. 1, or need to grab a quick bite while running some errands, McDonald's could be an option for you. Many locations will be open, but the fast food chain's hours vary by location, meaning some could be closed on New Year's Day.
