Megan Thee Stallion Took A Shot Of Liquor With A Snake In It
While a mere shot of tequila is enough to send shivers down my spine, Megan Thee Stallion is a fearless drinker. The rapper shared a TikTok on Thursday trying the liquor habushu while visiting Japan, and it has more bite than José Cuervo—quite literally.
The Okinawan rice liquor comes with an actual coiled pit viper in it. And yep, it's often put in the bottle still alive and then quickly drowns. "
Lol should I show y’all all of the food / drinks I’ve been trying out in Japan? I just haddd to taste this dang snake drink," Megan captioned the video.
"Is this gonna kill me? He's looking at me!" she said before downing the shot. "That's tough," she added.
Naturally, fans were cracking up in the comments. "'HE LOOKIN AT MEE’ *turns bottle* Me: Uh uh, now he looking at MEEE," one user wrote, while another chimed in, "When it was looking at you it said 'motherrr.'"
Like our girl Meg, we can't help but wonder...is this drink actually safe? According to Atlas Obscura, habushu is made from Thai rice and a local black mold called kōji, and has a dead venomous pit viper—also known as Protobothrops Flavoviridis or habu—that sits at the bottom.
And while it rightfully sounds terrifying, habushu is actually an energy- and libido-boosting beverage. In fact, it was even formerly sold as a medicinal tonic.
Megan Thee Stallion isn't the only celeb expanding her palate lately. On the very same day, Cardi B took to TikTok with a taste of her own. The "Up" rapper sampled a balut egg, which is a duck egg embryo, on TikTok—before almost immediately spitting it out.
"No, I don’t like it. I don’t like it. It’s very meaty. It literally tastes to me like an uncooked chicken. I don’t know it was just gamey for me. But the liquid it had inside was good," she tells the camera. "I’m not even going to rate it one through ten, I’m just going to say it’s not for me."
