Meghan Markle Looks Gorgeous in Gold as She Attends Gala in NYC With Her Mom, Doria, and Prince Harry

Meghan Markle is back in New York City!

The Duchess of Sussex is in town for Ms. Foundation's 2023 Women of Vision Awards, where tonight, Gloria Steinem will present her with an award.

For the occasion, Meghan wore a gorgeous strapless gold dress, which she paired with matching a matching clutch and strappy sandals. She skipped the red carpet at the event, arriving just before the dinner with her mother, Doria Ragland, who sported a black dress and pointy-toe pumps, and Prince Harry. His attendance, marking his first public appearance since the coronation comes as a surprise, as it was not announced beforehand.

Steinem founded the feminist Ms. magazine in 1972, and a year later, she teamed up with Patricia Carbine, Letty Cottin-Pogrebin and Marlo Thomas to establish the Ms. Foundation for Women, dedicated to securing rights, equality and justice for women.

Tonight's event, which marks the 50th anniversary of the Ms. Foundation, is honoring four "Women of Vision," described as feminist changemakers: the Duchess of Sussex, LaTosha Brown, the founder of Black Voters Matter, Wanda Irving, co-founder of Dr. Shalon's Maternal Action Project, which focuseson Black maternal health disparities, and Kimberly Inez McGuire, the executive director of Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity and a leader in the reproductive justice movement. Other honorees this evening include abortion rights activist Olivia Julianna, a strategist with Gen Z for Change, and teen activist Rebekah Bruesehoff, a public speaker and author on trans issues.

Meghan's "Women of Vision" profile describes her as a "feminist, champion of human rights and gender equity, and global role model. Her lifelong advocacy for women and girls remains a constant thread she weaves through both humanitarian and business ventures."

Steinem and Meghan met after Meghan moved to California, and became fast friends over get-out-the-vote initiatives. "Meg is herself, smart, authentic, funny, political. She came home to vote," Steinem said in 2020. "And the first thing we did and why she came to see me was we sat at [my] dining room table... and cold-called voters."

In a conversation filmed about the importance of voting in 2020, Meghan told Steinem, "I keep thinking my goodness — I’ve looked up to you for so long! It’s wonderful to just be in your company, to learn so much and to feel inspired to be home."
