Meghan Markle turns heads in a $595 leather pencil skirt on royal outing with Prince Harry

Sister-in-law Kate Middleton may have stuck with her go-to Zara jeans for her first official appearance since returning from maternity leave Tuesday, but Meghan Markle just couldn’t resist splashing out on something a bit sexier for her royal outing with Prince Harry on Wednesday.

To be fair, the pressure was on for Meghan to make a big first impression. The former actress and her husband made their first official joint visit to Sussex, the county over which they formally preside as the newly minted Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The duchess mixed high and low fashion for the day’s look, pairing a $99 dark-green silk blouse from & Other Stories with a matching lambskin leather pencil skirt by Hugo Boss priced at $595.

Meghan wore her long locks in a center-parted updo and bundled up in a pale camel-cashmere Armani coat. Beige suede heels and a hunter-green Gabriela Hearst Nina bag completed the city-chic look.

It’s the leather skirt that’s grabbed the most attention, however. While the style is earning raves from fashionistas, some online royal-watchers have suggested that it’s a bit “daring” for the family. But hey — if the queen can wear head-to-toe acid green without causing a fuss, a little leather surely can’t qualify as a palace scandal.
