Meghan Markle Ushers in Spring With a New Photo of Her Kids, Archie and Lilibet
Meghan Markle celebrated the end of winter by taking her children Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, strawberry picking. The Duchess of Sussex shared a candid snap of the family outing on Instagram this afternoon, writing, “Cheers to the first day of spring!”
Meghan hid her kids’ faces, but Lili is likely in front, holding the basket, and the foot of her older brother, Archie, seems to be in the background.
Meghan and Harry have not posted photos with their children’s faces clearly visible for years. In August 2024, a family friend told Us Weekly that they have to hold back for safety reasons.
“I think every parent wants to share their kid with the world, but they just can’t,” the source said. (Harry and Meghan lost their tax payer-funded police protection when they stepped back from their senior royal family roles in 2020. Harry has been fighting in U.K. courts for the right to pay for it when they’re visiting.)
While Harry’s brother, Prince William, can take his children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis to events and regularly share photos, things are different for the Sussexes. “William’s kids, for example, have way more safety, even though they’re recognizable,” the insider said, noting their police protection. “And the same doesn’t apply to Meghan and Harry’s children. They know the world wants to see [them, but] I would expect them to live smaller lives until that gets sorted, if it ever does.”
Meghan spoke recently about her decision not to film her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, at her Montecito, California home. Her kids do not appear in the series but did visit the set.
She explained filming in a rental home to People, “I wanted to protect that safe haven. We’re a close-knit family, and I love those moments—putting Lili down for a nap, having lunch together, having sacred time together at the end of the day. Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family, and with a crew of 80-plus people, that’s a lot of people to have in your house!”
