Earlier this week, the Duchess of Sussex surprised Vancouverites with an unannounced visit to local non-profit organization Justice for Girls.

After an evening of cheering on the Canucks at Rogers Arena, the mom-of-two spent Tuesday afternoon engaging in a heartfelt discussion panel about justice and equality for girls in Canada.

Justice for Girls shared a message on X (formerly Twitter), describing Markle's visit was as an "engaging and heartfelt conversation about equality for girls in Canada [and] around the world."

The organization detailed how Markle, alongside interns and staff, delved into Justice for Girls' extensive work.

"Together with our teen interns, staff, directors, and board members, we talked about Justice for Girls’ decades of work advocating for girls’ access to education, freedom from violence, Indigenous rights, and environmental justice," the non-profit shared.

They recalled a particularly powerful moment when Markle spoke with two of the organization's teen interns about their struggles for justice. A representative said, "Her genuine and understanding approach left the girls feeling heard, supported, and inspired."

Some X users were happy to see Markle's involvement in Canada.

"Meghan has always been about supporting and uplifting women. She has been a firm voice since she was a child… well done to JFG organisation as well for all you do," one person replied to the tweet.

"Lovely to see partnerships like these continue to thrive," another added.

Markle, a steadfast feminist advocate for gender equality, has consistently used her platform to support women's causes. This surprise visit only adds to her history of supporting Vancouver-based women's organizations, including visits to the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre in 2020 and previous discussions at Justice For Girls.

"Yesterday, The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle visited to discuss climate justice for girls and the rights of Indigenous peoples. Was great to talk about the importance of a holistic approach to social justice, and the power of young women’s leadership," Justice for Girls tweeted after Markle's 2020 visit.
