Ever the conscious consumer, the Duchess of Sussex is known as much for her impressive style as her commitment to ethical and sustainable fashion.
Many of Meghan’s go-to brands like Everlane and Reformation have built their cult-like followings using sustainable business practices, while also enjoying a little bump in recognition after receiving the Duchess’s stamp of approval.
Rothy’s is a brand whose eco-conscious footwear was spotted on Meghan Markle back in 2018 during the Sussexes official tour of Australia, and has also been seen on stars like Mandy Moore and Katie Holmes (among others). Known for their versatile styles made from 100 per cent recycled plastic, it’s no surprise that Meghan is a fan.
Each pair of Rothy’s footwear is created using their signature knit thread and can be machine washed to keep them looking their best, making them super practical as well as being a conscious choice. Now, the brand has taken their patented 3D knit process and expanded from just shoes to include sustainably-made handbags into their lineup.
With five new silhouettes ranging in style from a carryall tote to a miniature pouch, there’s an option to suit every occasion. Prices start at $89 for a mini catchall that’s perfect for travel, and go all they way up to $475 for the Rothy’s take on an everyday handbag.
Although they’re definitely not the most inexpensive bags around, knowing that they’re fully vegan and eco-friendly is definitely a big draw if you’re willing to splurge.
