Miami is Wade County all over again. Heat legend’s throwing a party and you’re invited

Former Miami Heat player Dwyane Wade reacts during a ceremony honoring his induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame at Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Miss Dwyane Wade yet?

You’ll be able to break bread with him later this month, literally.

The retired Miami Heat legend is hosting the inaugural When We Gather wine and food festival, on Oct. 26 at The Urban in Overtown.

Various BIPOC (Black, indigenous and people of color) chefs from the community will be showing off their culinary chops.

Among the talented toques in the lineup: Marcus Samuelsson (Red Rooster); Eileen Andrade (Amelia’s 1931 and Finka Table & Tap); Giorgio Rapicavoli (Luca Osteria, Eating House, Mayfair Grill); Diego Ng and Alex Kuk (Temple Street Eatery); and Derrick “Chef Teach” Turton (World Famous House of Mac).

In a statement, Wade said he was “excited” for his old Wade County pals to come out to When We Gather, which coincides with another major life event: The following evening the beloved basketball star will celebrate his statue unveiling at the Kaseya Center.
