Michael B. Jordan Reveals The 1 Reason He's Not Ready To Become A Father

Michael B. Jordan is delaying fatherhood, recognizing that some roles — like being a dad — require more script refinement.

In a conversation with GQ for its new cover story, Jordan reflected on how his own father had two children by the time he was 38, the same age Jordan is now.

“Like, my dad had two kids at this age, you know what I’m saying?” Jordan remarked. The “Black Panther” actor further emphasized the importance of having a father in one’s life, noting its impact on “building something solid.”

Previously, Jordan had shared with the outlet that he would dedicate his 20s to his craft, but now the actor seems more open about his decision to delay fatherhood for the time being.

Jordan remains laser-focused on his current projects, he told GQ.

“And that is my perspective on raising [my stop date] a little bit,” he explained. His “competitive” nature makes him want to be “the best dad,” he said, but at this juncture, acting remains his primary focus.

Jordan’s father, Michael A. Jordan, reportedly started a family tradition of changing only the middle initial in their names.

During a 2021 appearance on “The Ellen Show” in 2021, Jordan revealed that he plans to break this tradition.

“It’s like the pressure I had to live up to my dad’s name, and I’m not gonna put that on my kid,” Jordan said, adding that he wants to let his child have their “own identity.”
