Mickey Mouse heads to the House for toy drive

WE HEAR: The Mouse is coming to the House.

Mickey Mouse is getting in the holiday and giving spirit as he heads to Capitol Hill on Wednesday. The famed begloved rodent will be joining a toy drive hosted by The Walt Disney Co. on Wednesday in the Rayburn House Office Building foyer.

The effort, dubbed Disney’s Ultimate Toy Drive, is part of a benefit supporting the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Disney employees, along with Marine Corps service members and Toys for Tots reps, are poised to collect toy donations at the charitable shindig.

In addition to the main mouse attraction, hot cocoa and sweet treats will be served at the event, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m.

Disney will donate a toy to a local family in the Washington area for every attendee, according to organizers.

The media giant is calling the presents push a “first-of-its-kind journey of giving for Mickey,” who it says is “helping to deliver toys and bring happiness to kids around the world this year.”
