Miley Cyrus Breaks Silence on Working With Beyoncé for ‘Cowboy Carter’ Duet: ‘You’re Everything and More’
Miley Cyrus received one of the greatest honors any musician could dream of: the opportunity to collaborate with Beyoncé. Cyrus and Beyoncé’s duet, “II Most Wanted,” appears on the new album Cowboy Carter.
The two stars kept their track a secret up until the release. With the album now out, Cyrus hopped on Instagram to reflect on her experience creating music with Beyoncé and to, of course, promote their song.
She wrote, “II Most Wanted is out now on the new @Beyonce album #CowboyCarter.” She added, “I’ve loved Beyoncé since long before I had the opportunity to meet & work with her. My admiration runs so much deeper now that I’ve created alongside of her. Thank you Beyoncé. You’re everything and more. Love you. To everyone who spent time making this song so special thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sincerely, Miley.”
Cyrus and Beyoncé were first photographed singing together way back in September 2008. It was the last time they’ve sung so publicly together before this collab.
In her press release for Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé revealed the project took half a decade to create.
“This album took over five years,” she said. “It’s been really great to have the time and the grace to be able to take my time with it. I was initially going to put Cowboy Carter out first [before Renaissance], but with the pandemic, there was too much heaviness in the world. We wanted to dance. We deserved to dance. But I had to trust God’s timing.”
“I think people are going to be surprised because I don’t think this music is what
everyone expects, but it’s the best music I’ve ever made,” she added.
