Mindy Kaling dazzles in lavender gown with plunging neckline at Met Gala: 'So chic!'
Mindy Kaling embraced springtime florals at the 2022 Met Gala.
The 42-year-old hit the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a lavender frock with a plunging neckline and thigh-high slit. The dress, designed by Prabal Gurung, also featured dramatic shoulder trains with purple floral decals.
The actress and producer completed the look with matching silk pumps and a glitzy diamond necklace.
As for her beauty look, Kaling opted for a purple smokey eye, mauve lipstick and ultra-long lashes. Her dark wavy hair was parted down the centre and tumbled down her back.
Although Kaling didn't embrace the "Gilded Glamour" theme by wearing a petticoat, fascinator or bustle, she decided to wear an American designer to honour this year's Americana moment.
The look sent the internet into a frenzy, with fans calling the dress "elegant" and "a breath of fresh air."
"Mindy looks radiant! So chic!," wrote a fan on Instagram. "The dress is absolutely stunning on her, what a breath of fresh air!"
"As usual, I am a big fan of Mindy Kaling. She looks super elegant and she certainly brightened up that red carpet!" echoed another. "I'm not even worried that it's not really on the gilded theme because she just looks so good.
Fans also loved Kaling's choice of pastel purple, dubbing it "her colour."

At the 2021 Met Gala, Kaling wore a navy gown with a black belt by Tory Burch.
“I admire how Mindy has shaped her own career path and constantly challenges herself even on the fashion side,” Burch told Vogue at the time. “She has introduced a new and much-needed perspective to break down stereotypes and reframe how South Asians are typically viewed in Western media. That is critical right now and something we need more of.”
