I solemnly promised myself to not buy any more balms, but I caved when I heard all the buzz about the new Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm flavour in sweet mint.

🛍️ Reasons to buy: This lip balm hydrates, smooths and soothes lips. It's perfect for daily wear and can double as an overnight lip mask for extra nourishment. Plus, it adds the perfect amount of shine. As a bonus, the mint flavour has a refreshing cooling effect.
✋ Reasons to avoid: I'd skip this one out if you're not big on scented balms (or tingly mint flavours). And if you don't want to pay the price point, you can always opt for a cheaper alternative.
The Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm is available in five flavours, including the new Sweet Mint.
While I've tried many lip balms, not all of them have moisturized to my liking. Many products actually dried my lips out more, which is not what I signed up for. But, when I tried the new sweet mint Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm, my lips were very pleased.
Since I own a *plethora* of lip products, I told myself I'd finish the ones I already own before adding to my vast collection. However, after discovering this new flavour, I simply couldn't resist.
Summer Fridays Sweet Mint Lip Butter Balm review: Details, pros and cons
It's been a mere week since purchasing this new lippie, and I can confidently say that my lips have been happily refreshed and moisturized ever since. I'll be reaching for it even more now that the weather is getting cooler.
The first thing I noticed was the aesthetic green tube — one thing about me is that I'm a sucker for packaging. Another thing that caught my attention was the scent of peppermint, which is pretty strong — and I love that it's reminiscent of the holiday season that's right around the corner!
It has an easy applicator that applies the product smoothly, and I can appreciate that I don't have to dip my fingers in a tub to use it. The Sweet Mint flavour is clear, but they also have tinted versions like Vanilla Beige, Poppy and Brown Sugar.
It's made with shea and murumuru seed butter that'll naturally condition your pout, and vegan waxes to really bring the shine. The formula is not too thick but definitely viscous enough for me — and it's not greasy at all.
And it gets bonus points for having a Sephora Clean seal. Plus, it's vegan and made from recyclable packaging, making it an all-around win in my books.
While I love this butter balm a lot, the price is pretty hefty, which I don't love. Additionally, this one might not be for you if you aren't a fan of scented balms, especially of the mint variety.
The Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm is available in seven flavours/tints.
What other people are saying
The Lip Butter Balm boasts an overall 4.4-star rating, with over 3,000 reviews and 1,000,000 "loves" on Sephora.
"The scents are all amazing[,] and the hydration is amazing," said one reviewer. Another added that it's "super smooth and doesn't stick to my hair."
One customer said the sweet mint flavour "has a good mild minty tingle" effect, adding that it "feels great on the lips."
"I have never in my life liked a lip product so much before," said another shopper.
"For girlies who want a transparent gloss, this is for you," said one promising review.
The verdict
When it comes to lip balms, I look for a few things: hydration, shine, staying power and a pleasant scent — it's safe to say Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm checks all the boxes. And the new sweet mint flavour is definitely a win in my books.
Now, the formula might work differently for others, but I can attest to the healing properties of this product. It hasn't dried out my lips, and I don't need to constantly re-apply it, which I love.
Is it worth it? I vote yes. It's expensive, but I can justify the steep price point because a little bit goes a long way. Plus, it's worth having hydrated lips (and I love a little luxurious treat every now and again).
