Miss Piggy: Your new style icon

, Miss Piggy is so hot right now! (Maybe even as hot as Betty White.) Not only is she playing the plus-size editor of Paris Vogue in the new Muppet movie out this November, the world’s most fabulous pig is also making quite the splash in the real fashion world.
The infamous Piggy is set to star as a guest judge on Project Runway All Stars and as the new face of M.A.C. cosmetics. Does it matter that her face is made of felt? Of course not! At least not to M.A.C., who is reportedly billing their new spokeswoman, er, spokes-pig as "Icon. Actress.Supermodel. Chanteuse. Muse. Frog-o-phile.Cinema and television superstar nonpareil.” Indeed.

So what’s the fascination with this pig? Aside from the fact that she’s better dressed than most of us could ever hope to be–she’ll be wearing costumes designed by Zac Posen and shoes by Christian Louboutin in her new film–academics say we love her flamboyant and over-the-top character. (Yes, academics have analyzed Miss Piggy. Don’t act like you wouldn’t love that job.) Australia's Curtin University Professor of Cultural Studies Jon Stratton told Australia-based The Ridge News:
"She is laughed at for her fantasy and her inability to see what she really is – a pig - while people sympathize with her as a passionate creature whose desire and love [for Kermit the Frog] is not reciprocated, and they empathize as she is a creature trying to make the most of her charms."
Her longtime love for Kermie might be unrequited, but no one can deny, this pig’s got style.
